Maritime Courses and Excursions

SEA-Guide Services is accredited to teach and certify certain DOT or USCG licenses. Come train side-by-side with Coast Guard instructors, Licensed Mariners, and local tourism professionals. Fee waivers are available, but limited. Call or email us to request a training fees waiver for yourself or your crew.

Juneau Newcomers Orientation (3-hr)

A crash course in Juneau attractions, history, flora/ fauna, geology, local knowledge, and more. This course is designed for new arrivals to Juneau, eager to explore!

AMSEA Fishing Vessel Drill Conductor

Certified Emergency Drill Training by a licensed Alaska Marine Safety Education Association Instructor. Required for all commercial vessel crew operating 3+ miles seaward, and/or above 16 crewmembers

Private Captain Instruction

On your own vessel, or on ours (M/V "Desert Duck"), get personalized coaching to compliment your skill-level. Private clients receive classroom and dockside instruction, along with reference materials. We guarantee noticeable improvement in your boat-handling skills

Captain's Waterway Orientation

Designed for boat operators unfamiliar with Steven's Passage, Lynn Canal, and surrounding waterways. Identify hazards, wildlife locations, fishing areas, local services for mariners, and tips for regional guiding

Boat Safety and Planning (3-hr)

With guided instruction and take-home laminates, create a proficient emergency plan for your vessel and crew. Prepare a SOP template for responding to casualties, fire, and other marine emergencies in a 3-hour course. Set yourself up for a safe summer on Alaska’s waterways

Tourinomics 101 (2-hr)

Gain insight into your clientele. Learn about visitor demographics, tourism authorities, passenger services, and simple solutions for keeping guests happy as a professional wildlife guide.
